National standards? I’m unaware of any national curricular standards (unless it’s part of some educational organization).

Does anyone have any additional information about “national curricular standards”?

I know that the National Science Education Standards (NSES) were the result of a collaboration of many individuals and were funded by the NSF, the U.S. Dept. of Education, NASA, NIH, the National Academy of Science, as well as by various charitable foundations.

Do the national standards simply serve as a guideline for what each state decides should be taught in their schools? Are there national standards for subjects other than the sciences?
